XFCE 4.20, Wayland (labwc), GDM, Linux Lite 7.x
Test Continuation
Continuing with testing I managed to get wayvnc working. I was pleased that I could start it from an SSH terminal with a saved configuration in an aliased bash script just like I do with x11vnc. I was able to VNC connect to my Linux Lite 7 XFCE4.20 system running on Wayland labwc with a Remmina client on my Linux Lite 6.6 system. The connection was almost instantaneous and the remote Wayland desktop was very fast. My suspicion that VNC would work better for Linux to Linux connections than RDP was proved correct and there was no need to login from GDM.
With Windows I downloaded and installed the newest UltraVNC Viewer and Repeater.
I was quite pleased with the UltraVNC viewer interface and all the previous authentication bugs were no longer an issue with wayvnc and you could opt to trust the server. The connection was very fast and the response was only slightly slower than the Linux to Linux connection. WayVNC shows in the window title bar and the tool menu below lists the connection address. The red button cleanly disconnects you, and you can save multiple connections for future use.
At this point the newest version of UltraVNC seems very compatible with the wayvnc server, and the performance is so good, that I can actually recommend it as the simplest best solution for connecting to Linux machines running Wayland from Windows 10/11.
