My Favorite Linux Distributions Of 2022

Linux Lite Fluorite 6.x: *Best Linux distribution for new users*
Recently Jesse Smith of Distrowatch picked Linux Mint as his favorite distribution of 2022 describing it, as it is often referred to, as Ubuntu done right. Honestly it is a full featured and nicely done desktop OS but it lacks something that is often missing in many Linux distributions, that rare expression of pragmatic creativity as far as the desktop user interface is concerned. Many developers write wonderful cleanly coded software for Ubuntu derivatives but they often miss the mark for new user sensibilities. Linux Lite is the best expression of the kind of pragmatic creativity concerning desktop user interface friendliness that I am referring to. Linux Lite developer Jerry Bezencon always seems to have an eye for and thoughtful consideration for the needs of Linux Lite’s growing new user community. It shows on the desktop with applications like Lite Tweaks, Lite Sources, Lite Software and the comprehensive Linux Lite help manual. It shows on the helpful and encouraging Linux Lite forum. If Linux Mint is Ubuntu done right, Linux Lite is XFCE done right. I am not particularly fond of Ubuntu derivatives in general so one shouldn’t mistake my endorsement of Linux Lite as prejudiced in any way. My two main desktop systems are Debian gnome with wayland and I always cycle them out halfway through each new Debian release schedule. I like the Debian stability and wayland, but I always and only install Linux Lite for new Linux users. People who have never seen any kind of Linux system before respond to, and understand how to use Linux Lite’s intuitive desktop within minutes, and within a few days begin to absorb the wonderful possibilities of a powerful desktop Linux OS. I have never run across a Linux distribution that hits the mark for new user friendliness as accurately as Linux Lite does, and the Linux Lite Fluorite 6.x release series virtually sets that standard of comparison for all of Linux desktop OS.

Linux Lite Fluorite 6.x also installs to Windows 10/11 Hyper-V from the ISO, and runs lightening fast on my own i7 Windows machine.
